The Supreme Council for the Family in Sharjah organizes the first poetry symposium at the Book Fair
A large number of poets and intellectuals gathered in a poetry evening held at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair, organized by the Cultural and Media Office of the Supreme Family Council in Sharjah, for the two Emirati poets Najat Al Dhaheri and Amal Al Sahlawi, and moderated by the poet Sheikha Al Jabri.
Sheikha Al Jabri presented the symposium, saying that the poetry symposia and forums seek to highlight the women’s poetic traditions in the country by shedding light on the socio-cultural framework, forms, themes, aesthetic and ethical issues, and the developments of feminist poetic production in the UAE.
Poet Najat Al Dhaheri expressed her happiness with this large audience in the hall to listen to poetry, which she did not expect at all, but it became clear to her that poetry is still the food of minds and hearts.
Poet Najat Al Dhaheri started the poetic evening, choosing poems of various types in poetic templates, where the classic poems and then the activation.
Amal Al-Sahlawi recited more than one poem, including the poem “I am trying to explain you”.
